This free workshop will help you be successful at the dog park.
Our trainers will prepare you for your visit as well as give you information on what is
appropriate your dog while at the dog park.
You will learn to:
- Determine whether your dog is playing appropriately
- Determine whether a dog park is a good place for your dog
- Understand basic canine body language
- Manage or avoid inappropiate situations
This is a workshop for humans only, please leave your dog at home.
Getting Rover Ready for Baby

Pregnant? Have a dog? Worried about how your dog will react to your family's new addition?
Narnia's experienced instructors will show you exercises you can take home to prepare Rover for the new baby.
This class is geared toward expectant moms, dads, grandparents, and those who
plan to have a child in the future.
We cover:
- Things to do before your baby arrives
- Introducing your dog to baby sights, smells and sounds
- How to manage interactions and the environment
This is a workshop for humans only, please leave your dog at home.
If you would like individual help with your dog, we can set up a private lesson with one of our instructors to
address any concerns you might have.
Child Safety Program

Dog bites are the second leading cause of childhood injury according to the American Medical Association. Of that, 77% of bites are to the facial area.
Help your child learn how to be safe around both your dog and unfamilar dogs.
You will learn:
- If you should, and how to approach a dog
- Safe interactions with dogs
- What not to do around a dog

Puppy Crate Games

Do you want a puppy who is motivated to go to their crate? Make going to their crate fun? Develop self-control and learn how to focus? This workshop will help teach your dog self control rather than impose control. This is great ground-work for consistent sit stay, distance skills for obedience or agility. Also start to develop an amazing working relationship with your new puppy, build their confidence and best of all they will want to go to their crate when asked.
You will learn to teach your dog:
- Voluntarily go to their crate
- Teach them to go to their crate on command
- Prevent the puppy from bolting out of the crate door
- Stay in the crate with low level distractions
- They can exit the crate when you say so
You must bring your dogs metal crate, collar, leash, treats and favorite toy to class. No metal collars or retractable leashes.
Puppy in the Park & Puppy on the Town

Calling all puppies and their owners! Come join us for a night of GOOD puppy socialization. We will meet at a local park and guide owners and puppies into over coming the common fears and challenges of going to such a place. How to greet bikes, people, kids, stroller, and other dogs will address in a fun and positive way so that the puppies will learn to enjoy the park and being out in the community. This is for puppies age 10 - 18 weeks and small breed puppies ages 12 weeks - 6 months.

CGC Test

This test was developed by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to recognize dogs with good manners.
In order to pass this test, you must demonstrate several skills with your dog including:
- Accepting a friendly stranger
- Sitting politely for petting
- Appearance and grooming
- Walking on a loose lead
- Walking through a crowd
- Sit, down, and stay
- Coming when called
- Reaction to another dog
- Reaction to distraction
- Supervised separation
You do not need to have an AKC registered breed to take this test. Full details on all test requirements are available on the AKC's web site.
AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Award

This test was developed by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. In order to receive the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Award you must:
- Enroll and attend all 6 weeks of class
- Complete and return all class homework
- Provide identification for the puppy (collar tag, microchip or tattoo)
- Bring clean-up bags to class
Your puppy must:
- Be free of aggression toward people and other puppies
- Tolerate a collar or harness
- Accept a hug from its owner
- Allow a treat or toy to be taken away
- Allow petting and grooming
- Walk on leash
- Sit, down and come on command
- Stay on leash with another person

C.L.A.S.S., or Canine Life and Social Skills, is about teaching and appreciating real-life, practical skills, such as walking nicely on a leash, settling down, meeting strangers, table manners, attention, and coming when called. Passing a C.L.A.S.S. Evaluation is a testimony to the life skills that an owner and their dog have developed together.

Brain Games

Is it too hot or too rainy to get outside to play with your dog? Try some mental exercise instead! Join us for our Brain Games
workshop in which you will be able to test drive some of the most popular interactive dog toys on the market! This 1 hour
workshop is designed to get your dog to use its brain to figure out puzzles, toys and other mental activities. There will
be 8 brain stations that each dog will have a turn at. While there, you will keep track on your dogs score and at the end of
the workshop there will be a prize for our brainy dogs.

Doggy IQ Test

Research shows even the average dog has the mental abilities of a 2-year-old human, so put your dog's brain to the test and see who earns the title of Narnia's Smartest Dog. Each dog will go through a series of exercises and games, earning a score for each activity. At the end of the night, your dog will receive a report card! It is guaranteed to be a lot of laughs and good mental exercise for the dogs.
Canine Confidence Building

Come join us as we help our shy dogs get ready for the summer. This sometimes a hard time of year for dogs who are shy
around people or environmental changes. In this class, we will learn to read our dogs' stress signals, teach our dogs
to go to their safe place to relax, establish successful introductions to new people and build their confidence
for a fun, lively summer.

Introduction to Shaping

Did you ever wonder how Sea World gets the dolphins to jump on command? Or how the dogs in the
commercial can open a fridge and get the owner a drink? This workshop will introduce you and your
dog to what many people believe is the ultimate approach to training: shaping. You must use a clicker
for this class, and be willing to bring your dog’s bed or mat.
In this workshop, you learn:
- How shaping works
- The science of operant conditioning
- How to introduce objects and teach tricks
Intro to Agility

Interested in Agility? This workshop is for people and dogs with no agility experience. The workshop
will give you a brief introduction to agility basics and find out if you and your dog are interested in learning more.
Topics covered:
- Basics of clicker training
- Sample some agility obstacles
- Learn basic handling skills needed to guide your dog through a course

Walking

Make taking your dog for a walk a pleasant experience. This workshop is filled with exercises to help improve your dog's walking skills.

Shaping up for the Beach

Looking for some summer shaping fun for you and your dog? In this one day workshop we will help you
teach your dog the tricks needed to have a pleasant day at the beach. In addition to playing some
beach themed games, the tricks that will be taught are:
- Laying out for a tan
- Getting a drink out of the cooler
- Playing beach volleyball
Perquisites for this class are you must have taken our Introduction to Shaping workshop. Your dog must be able to retrieve.

Spring Walking Challenge Level 1: A Walk in the Great Outdoors

Do you have dreams of walking your dog outside without him/her stopping to sniff everything? Do you feel like when you get
outside your dog has lost all interest in you? Do you feel like your dog decides where you are walking instead of the other
way around? If so, this is the class for you! We will work on keeping your dogs attention on you when walking outside.
Important notes:
- All classes will be held outside, rain or shine
- Locations will be throughout the western suburbs
- Participants must be willing to drive to a different predetermined location for each class
- You need to be prepared to walk for the entire hour
This class is open to dogs that have been through at least one session of Intermediate, a Walking Workshop or have instructor approval.

Spring Walking Challenge Level 2: A Walk Through the Neighborhood

Do you find that once you walk out your front door, your dog stops paying attention to you? Are bikes, kids, and
other dogs making your walks twice as long as they need to be? This is a class that will help you handle the
challenges of walking through a neighborhood, while still having your dog pay attention to you!

Have you tried to walk your dog downtown and had your dog ignore you the entire time? Would you like to
sit at an outside cafe with a calm dog sitting at your feet? This is the class where we work toward making
that happen. We will work on exposing our dogs to variety of town and shopping situations and giving them
the tools to handle it all with a breeze!

Doggie Dinner Club
Your dinner 2 hours Date to be announced.
Looking for a night out on the town with your dog? Join the Doggie Dinner Club. This is group of dedicated dog owners
and their dogs who get together for a night out of walking and good food. Each meeting consists of a walk in a local
neighborhood that ends with a meal at a dog friendly restaurant. Loose leash walking, polite dog manners, and
desensitization to different environments are the dog training focus of this group. For the people it is a chance to
enjoy a night out with your dog and with other dedicated dog owners in a fun relaxing environment. The Doggie Dinner
Club is a club for owners and dogs that completed all of our Walking Challenge sessions.
